Mr. Lui has
accumulated more than twenty years of experience as an entrepreneur and
venture capitalist. He won the Hong Kong Young Industrialist
Award in 1992 and maintains excellent working relationships with
governments in China and Hong Kong. He also has a strong network
of venture capital connections on both sides of the Pacific.
Mr. Lui was
co-founder of the Legend Group (now known as Lenovo) in Hong
Kong. In 1994, he led Legend through a successful IPO on the Hong
Kong Stock Exchange. The company is currently the largest PC
manufacturer in China.
In 1997,
Mr. Lui founded APTG Ventures, his first venture fund focusing on
high-tech investments in Silicon Valley and China. The fund has
successfully identified star companies, with strong exit records and
impressive returns through IPOs as well as mergers & acquisitions.
Mr. Lui founded his second fund, Authosis, in the year 2000. The
fund focusing on both IT and semi-conductor industry and
invests mainly in early-stage software and fabless IC design
companies targeting the internet, e-commerce, wireless and mobile
solutions, consumer electronics, computing and communication markets.
In 2005, Mr. Lui co-founded a new venture fund, Startup Capital
Ventures, with Mr. John Dean, former Chairman and CEO of Silicon
Valley Bank, and several other partners. The fund emphasizes on
investing early-stage companies in Silicon Valley and
China. The
fund’s managing partners collectively possess over 100 years of
experience in investing in and building successful companies.
Mr. Lui
graduated from Imperial College, University of London, with a
bachelor’s degree in Computing Science.
